Mike & Ashton Santiago

Pastors Mike & Ashton’s journey began as a calling. It became Focus Church and Life-Change through Christ.

Their Story

When he was fourteen, Michael, didn’t know he would plant a church in Apex, North Carolina, a town where he had no family or personal ties, but what he did know was that he had a calling on his life, and God would use him to lead people to Jesus. Ministry is in Michael’s blood.

He grew up a missionary kid, living in Spain for much of his childhood, and his grandfather and parents still serve as overseas missionaries. However, Michael didn’t enter the ministry just to do what his family was doing. He had a moment when he knew God had called him personally. He began to prepare by going to Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, and then became a full-time youth pastor when he was eighteen. He and his wife, Ashton, led youth for seven years, and it was at that time that Michael had what he calls a defining moment.

“In my journal, I just wrote down ‘Focus Church’.”

It was 2010, and although he didn’t know when, Michael says he knew God would call Ashton and him to plant a church, and he had the name all ready to go.

God led Michael and his family to Apex, North Carolina, a town he had never been to, and, with training and financial assistance from the Church Multiplication Network, launched Focus Church in 2012. Every Sunday, the message of life-change reaches people from all over the Raleigh, NC area.
